Right Angles and Straight Angles

Right angles and straight angles

A right angle is an angle that is equal to 90 degrees.

A straight angle is a straight line that equals 180 degrees.

Angles are all around us in many different objects. Please have your child look around places that you go for the two different angles that we have learned about. If willing have your child take pictures of the different angles that have found and have them bring to class.

  1. This is a great way to get parents and students working together. I think often students come home and answer the routine question of "How was school today?" with "Fine." And that ends the conversation about the student's school day. By giving parents something to think about and a conversation starter, students cannot simply come back with the answer "fine" when they are asked specific questions about math! Great idea! Another thing to add to your blog that would be affective would be conversations for around the dinner table. This would allow parents to refresh the minds of students as well as get out of them what they learned that day! -AG

  2. I really like all of the pictures that are here. The children would really understand what is going on when they look at them. Hope that there will be more pictures that are just like these. KY

  3. I like this blog because it gives really good examples of what a 90 degree angle and what a 180 degree anle look like. It also show how children can use different objects around their homes or schools can be used to make these angles. Good Job!!
