Right Angles and Straight Angles
Right angles and straight angles
A right angle is an angle that is equal to 90 degrees.
A straight angle is a straight line that equals 180 degrees.
Angles are all around us in many different objects. Please have your child look around places that you go for the two different angles that we have learned about. If willing have your child take pictures of the different angles that have found and have them bring to class.
Acute and Obtuse Angles
10.03.10 - Today we learned about acute and obtuse angles.
An acute angle is any angle that measures greater than 0 degrees and less than 90 degrees.
Acute angles can be found all around us. Help your child find examples of acute angles in their surrounding environment.
Here is an example of an acute angle:
We also learned about obtuse angles. An obtuse angle is any angle that measures greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees.
Obtuse angles can also be found all around us. Help your child find examples of obtuse angles in their environment.
Here is an example of an obtuse angle:

Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
9-30-10 Today we learned about parallel and perpendicular lines.
Parallel lines are line segments that will never intersect. Examples:
Parallel lines of different lengths
3 slanted parallel lines
Perpendicular lines are when two lines intersect to form a right angle. (Right anle is a 90 degree angle.) Example:
Please help your child recognize parallel and perpendicular lines around them. Examples:
